The Liberating Energy of Compassion and Devotion

March 1 – 3
Julie Heegaard

We all experience moments of deep compassion towards others. This seed of compassion is an expression of our fundamental Buddha nature. Developing this seed is the very essence of the Buddhist path. It is through devotion to the teacher, the teachings, and the practices that guide us on the path that we can learn to more fully express a compassion not entangled by self-cherishing and thus be of benefit to all sentient beings.

This program draws on teachings by Her Eminence Mindrolling Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche and Venerable Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche to explore the deep and rich meanings of these terms. We will consider how embracing a path of compassion and devotion provides the liberating energy we long for, energy which moves us out of suffering and the limitations of self cherishing, and leaves in their place a greater sense of joy, confidence, and freedom.
