Welcoming the Year of the Earth Dog

Saturday, February 17th | 10:00am – 1:00pm

As is the Tibetan tradition to do a thorough cleaning of shrines and homes on the day before Losar, we’ll also be cleaning the Ösel Ling shrine room on Saturday morning from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Please join together with fellow sangha members to help keep our practice and study space uplifted and inviting. Please RSVP to this email and let us know when you expect to come and how long you will stay to help.

Sunday, February 18th | 10:00am – 2:00pm

Although Losar—the Lunar New Year (according to the Tibetan Calendar)— falls on Friday this year, the Ösel Ling sangha will celebrate on Sunday, February 18th, beginning at 10:00am, with a special practice session including extra chants, a brief session of Downpour of Blessings, meditation, and some special readings.

Following this at 12:00 noon, we will enjoy a hearty lunch together and help those in need by making meal bags which will be be distributed to people in homeless encampments by the organization Night Ministry. Many thanks to sangha member Burke Patton, Night Ministry Senior Communications Associate, for arranging this. We’ll shop together for the food items at Valli and then prepare the bags for distribution by the Night Ministry. As we work, Burke Patton will share a bit about the mission of the Night Ministry.

If you wish to contribute to the community lunch, please let Julie Heegaard know what you will bring.
